What is Gynecology?
Gynecology is the branch of medicine focused on the health of the female reproductive system and the hormonal changes women experience throughout life. It includes the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of conditions involving the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, cervix, and vagina.
Gynecologic care covers a wide range of concerns, including menstrual problems, pelvic pain, infections, ovarian cysts, fibroids, endometriosis, fertility concerns, and hormonal changes. It also includes routine examinations and screenings that help identify potential health concerns early.
Gynecologic health can change throughout different stages of life, from adolescence and the reproductive years to perimenopause and menopause. Regular care helps women better understand these changes, address concerns, and make informed decisions about their health and well-being.
